The Play

(Reviews from the London production directed by Chris Hay).

"This beautifully crafted adaptation ... was a bitter-sweet evocation of childhood with its taboos, superstitions and guilelessness, it was sheer joy."

The Manchester Guardian

"[This] adaptation of Harper Lee's novel of violent events in a small town in Alabama in 1935 is holding packed houses in rapt attention."

The Times

"As Atticus says 'They've done it before, they'll do it again, and when they do it seems that only children weep.' I think most of the audience wept too. The final scene of this remarkable production takes us into this terrifying zone, and recreates the moment when Scout surfaces from the clear morality of childhood into the injustices of the adult world."

The Financial Times

"Miss it and you've missed something important"
